Lauren Peacock was appointed assistant principal cellist of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in 2022. In addition to her orchestral performances, she enjoys being an active chamber musician throughout the city of Birmingham. Lauren also has a passion for music education and is adjunct faculty at The Alabama School of Fine Arts, Birmingham-Southern College, and maintains a private studio at STEP Birmingham.

Prior to her time in Alabama, Lauren was a fellow at The Orchestra Now at Bard College where she performed as principal cellist in notable venues including Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the Fisher Center. She also held the position of assistant principal with the Glens Falls Symphony during her time in New York. She has attended prestigious summer programs including Tanglewood Music Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Colorado College Music Festival, Bard Music Festival, and the Crested Butte Music Festival. During the most recent summers, she enjoys performing chamber music at the Caroga Lake Music Festival in the Adirondacks.

Lauren holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan, a Master of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master’s degree in Curatorial, Critical, and Performance Studies from Bard College. Her primary teachers include Richard Aaron, Bion Tsang, and Gilda Barston.
