South Korean cellist Sung Chan Chang is Associate Principal Cellist of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and a member of the Galliard Quartet. He has appeared as a soloist with leading ensembles including the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen Orchestra, Ensemble TIMF, Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, Music Academy Festival Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra, Seoul Chamber Orchestra, and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.

A versatile performer, Chang has been featured on prestigious stages such as Aspen’s Benedict Music Tent, Carnegie Hall, KBS Hall, Kumho Art Hall, Lincoln Center’s Paul and Morse Halls, Pick-Staiger Concert Hall, Sejong Grand Hall, and the Seoul Arts Center. His festival appearances include the Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, The Perlman Music Program, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Great Mountains Music Festival.

Chang is a winner of the Aspen Concerto Competition, Juilliard Concerto Competition, Music Academy of the West Concerto Competition, Northwestern Concerto/Aria Competition, and Sorantin International Competition. He was also a prizewinner at the Isang Yun International Cello Competition.

He earned his Bachelor of Music degree at the Korean National University of Arts under the tutelage of Myung-Hwa Chung, his Master of Music at The Juilliard School with Richard Aaron, his Artist Diploma at Yale University with Aldo Parisot, and his Doctor of Musical Arts at Northwestern University with Hans Jørgen Jensen.
