Piano quintets by Antonin Dvořák and Amy Beach

ACMF guest artists tackle two broodingly romantic masterworks, featuring the piano at the heart of the chamber ensemble. Leading American composer and pianist Amy Beach wrote and published works for almost every genre, and her celebrated Piano Quintet was performed frequently during her lifetime, including by Beach herself at the piano. Likewise prolific, Antonín Dvořák composed his second Piano Quintet nearly one decade after his first attempt at the formation, which left the composer dissatisfied and the work unpublished.
